A14 closures and Dry Drayton Road crossing (updated)    20 November, 2017

The A14 bridge between Dry Drayton Road and Oakington Road will be closed to all traffic on Monday 20th between 9:30am and 8:00pm.  Subsequently traffic light controls will be operating across the bridge between 9:30am and 3:30pm each day from Tuesday 21st to Friday 24th November.

The A14 will be closed to eastbound only traffic from St Ives (J26) to Girton (J31) on the nights of 20th and 22nd November.  This will include the A1307 Huntingdon Road towards Cambridge.

The A14 will be closed to westbound only traffic from Girton (J31) to Fenstanton (J27) on the nights of 21st and 23rd November.  The closure includes Huntingdon Road outbound from Girton Corner.

The A14 will be completely closed between Fenstanton (J27) and Swavesey (J28) on the night of 25th November.

All these closures are effective from 9pm to 6am next day.  The usual signed diversion routes will be in place.

There are other A14/A1/A428 works in the locality around the same dates, and ongoing.  For full details please see here

Traffic light controls are now operating regularly on Dry Drayton Road near the A14, to allow for plant regularly crossing that road. This runs from August 2017 and is likely to continue for some months, though this process may cease over the winter.  Highways England tell us "This will have restrictions on use during peak hours and priority at those times will be given to road users. At other times plant crossing the roadway will be given priority but will be carefully managed to prevent unnecessary delays to road users."

If drivers encounter difficulties with this crossing, or find any undue amount of mud on the road at the crossing point, please let the Parish Council know of this.
